To apply for a right-of-occupancy home, you need a queue number granted by The Centre for State-Subsidised Housing Construction, (Varke), formerly The Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland (Ara). The queue number indicates your position in the application queue among those applying for the same apartment.
The queue number is valid for two years and works for all right-of-occupancy homes in Finland. However, you must submit a separate application to each company.
The queue number costs 9,20 euros. Please check Varke’s website for instructions and possible changes regarding the queue number and applying for the queue number.
You can apply for a queue number for the future even if you do not need an apartment at the moment. You can apply for a new number as soon as you have signed your right-of-occupancy contract. The queue number is personal and concerns the whole applicant family.
If you have not received a right-of-occupancy apartment during the validity period of your queue number and you still wish to continue your search for an apartment, you must apply for a new queue number. You can apply for a new queue number once the validity of the old one has expired. You can check the validity of your queue number in the queue number register.
